Stephanie Gibson works with acrylic paints and inks on cradled board and canvas. A self-taught artist, Stephanie made painting part of her daily routine in 2020, and has continued to expand her knowledge through local and online classes.
Her work is centered in family history: the repetitions and layers of different generations in the same home, walking the same paths, taking in the sunrise from the same porch, weeding the same garden beds. Her paintings consider the timeworn beauty of objects, particularly vessels, passed down from one woman in a family to another. They honor women throughout history who brought nature into the home in the form of cut flowers arranged in vases.
